Did you know…?
- TOTAL RECYCLED E-WASTE PER YEAR 12.5%
- RECYCLED CELL PHONES PER YEAR 18%
- REFURBISHED COMPUTERS PER YEAR 2%
- TOXIC WASTE IN LANDFILLS 70%
Source: United States Environmental Protection Agency
- The U.S. currently dumps between 300-400 million electronic items per year, yet only 12.5% of that e-waste is actually recycled.
- If we recycled a million cell phones, it would reduce greenhouse gas emissions equal to taking 1,368 cars off the road for a year.
- Despite the benefits, only about 2% of PCs find their way to a second user.
- Although e-waste doesn’t make up the majority of America’s trash in landfills, it still equals 70% of overall toxic waste.
